Prophet ‘kills’ solution-seeking housewife for money rituals in Oyo

Police in Oyo have arrested a man identified as Prophet Dotun Ogunlade, popularly called Arole Jesu, for the alleged murder of a 25-year-old housewife, Bosede Oguntade.

The prophet was paraded on Thursday alongside his friend identified simply as Mutiu.

Mrs Oguntade was lured to Igboora in Ibarapa area of the state via Facebook.

The prophet and his prophet allegedly mutilated the victim and buried her corpse in a shallow grave at the Ogboja area of the town.

Oguntade, a native of Ilorin, Kwara State, was said to have been invited to Igboora for solutions to her economic and marital problems.

Oyo police commissioner, Shina Olukolu, who led a team to the location where the victim was buried, said the head and arms of the woman were cut off before the rest of the body was buried.

Mr Olukolu said the prophet told Oguntade to rest a while having travelled a long distance and was offered sleeping pills.

The CP said she was given an overdose of the sleeping pills and was thereafter overpowered and strangled before being mutilated.

“Further investigation revealed that parts of her body were allegedly grinded into powder for rituals,” Olukolu said.

The prophet told journalists that he met the woman on Facebook in January and that the incident occurred on May 31.
