Ponzi: Chinmark investor dies days after suicide attempt

An investor in Chinmark Group, identified simply as Nuella, has died days after she reportedly attempted suicide.

In March 2022, Qed.ng reported how thousands of investors in Chinmark Group had become apprehensive about their investments in the company that claimed to be into real estate, logistics, hospitality, and food.

Thousands on social media criticised the CEO and chairman of the company Marksman Ijiomah over unpaid funds invested in the company despite many deadlines given for a refund.

Following news that the Ponzi scheme had crashed, Nuella, who invested a huge sum of money without informing her family members, allegedly attempted suicide.

A cybersecurity expert and CEO of Gemsbok Group Charles Awuzie reportedly rescued Nuella and took her to the hospital for medical attention.

However, Awuzie confirmed on Monday on his Facebook page that Nuella died after the incident.

He wrote, “Nuella – the lady who invested her family’s money with you and attempted suicide last month because of you. Well, she couldn’t handle the disappointment and she left the world today.

“I did my best to avoid possible Chinmark bloodshed… I was called names, defamed, and dragged for trying to stop bloodshed… The court and the blood of those I tried to save will vindicate me at the right time.”

Awuzie said more women had sent him private messages, threatening to take their lives.

“My heart is broken. But this is the end of Ponzi schemes in Nigeria. At this point, we will activate every tool available to us to bring those who killed Nuella to justice,” he said.
