President, Women Arise for Change Initiative Joe Okei-Odumakin says policemen who impregnate women out of wedlock should also be dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

Mrs Okei-Odumakin stated this on Thursday on a PUNCH Live programme in the wake of the dismissal of an unmarried policewoman Olajide Omolola for getting pregnant.

Okei-Odumakin urged the Inspector-General Police Mohammed Adamu to sack all policemen who impregnate women out of wedlock, adding that the dismissal of Omolola was “pure discrimination”.

According to her, many male operatives in the Force have at one time or the other impregnated ladies whom they were not married to.

She stressed that the Force must respect the equality of rights, and accord same regard to both genders in the Force.

Ms Olajide’s dismissal has generated backlash from the public. Following the outcry, the IGP ordered an investigation into the case.
