Police confirm killing of council worker in Zaria

Nigeria PoliceThe Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the discovery of a corpse of a worker with Sanga Local Government, Salisu Ibrahim-Bagudu.

Spokesman of the command, Aminu Lawal, in Zaria said that the body was found around the premises of the state Sharia Court of Appeal, Zaria.

Lawal said that the body was knocked down by a hit and run driver on September 28 in Zaria.

The spokesman said that the bumper and number plate of the vehicle were recovered from the scene of the incident.

He said that investigation into the matter was ongoing to fish out the driver of the vehicle with the bumper and number plate.

Jafaru Ibrahim-Bagudu, a brother to the deceased, had earlier told the police that his brother was killed on the said date while on his way to Muhammad Aminu Square.

Ibrahim-Bagudu, who is also the Madaucin Zazzau, said that his late brother used to go jogging in the morning every weekend at the square.

“After killing him, the ritualist tampered with the body by removing his vein and dumping his body around the Sharia Court premises,” he said.

The traditional ruler added that the deceased’s whereabout was unknown until a phone call was received from the police that a corpse had been discovered.

He said the called indicated that the attention of the family members was needed to identify the body.

Ibrahim-Bagudu said that after inspecting the corpse, they discovered that his vein had been removed.
