The dismissed soldier allegedly shot Chimaobi Nwaorgu dead on August 7 at Umuokereke Ngwa in Obingwa Local Government Area over N100 bribe.

Ajayi was dismissed from the army after an orderly room trial and was handed over to the police in Abia for prosecution.

Police prosecutor, Adeyemi Olukoya, said the former soldier was charged with one count of murder.

The alleged offence, he said, was punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 80, Vol. 3, Laws of Abia State of Nigeria 2005.

Ajayi, a native of Kogi State, said he was not allowed access to a defence counsel.

Magistrate Linda Ugboaja referred the case to the office of the state Director of Public Prosecution for transmission to the High Court.

Ugboaja ordered the accused to be remanded in the state prison until September 16.

Chiamaka called for justice and pleaded with the government to come to her assistance by giving her a job.
