Pinnick hosts Gianni Infantino, others at Ikoyi residence

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has hosted FIFA president Gianni Infantino and other football officials in his house at the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

Mr Pinnick posted photos of the visit to Instagram in the early hours of Sunday.

Infantino has been in Africa since last month when he arrived Nigeria for the kick-off of the Aisha Buhari Football Tournament.

“It was indeed a priceless privilege to have the FIFA PRESIDENT, Gianni Infantino and my colleagues from Ghana, Comoros, Mali, South Africa, Mali, Niger, Togo,immediate past President of the United States Soccer Federation, Carlos Cordera, FIFA Deputy General Secretary Mathias Grafstrom et al had lunch with my family at my Ikoyi residence,” he wrote.

The NFF boss said he remained an “unrepentant apostle” of Infantino’s vision for global football, adding “Gianni loves Africa.”

On March 12, 2021, Pinnick secured a seat in the FIFA Council, the highest decision-making organ in world football following a victory against Malawian FA president Walter Nyamilandu, who was the incumbent.

Pinnick defeated Nyamilandu by 43 votes to eight during the CAF General Assembly held in Rabat, Morocco.
