PDP mocks Oyinlola, says he has joined professional liars

Olagunsoye Oyinlola

oyinlolaFollowing the declaration of former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), his former party has reacted in a way to suggest Oyinlola’s action is not a threat to its desire to win the state.

With the governorship election in the south west state just holding on Saturday, August 9, the PDP said Oyinlola’s defection would not have any effect on the result of the election.

Oyinlola, who according to a substantive court ruling, was the Secretary General of the PDP until his exit from the party on Tuesday, said he decided to move with the positive tide by defecting to the APC.

“I decided to take my destiny in my hands as I am no longer wanted in the PDP. I have discovered that all the former governors in Osun are now in the APC and I decided to move with the tide,” the Okuku prince and former governor said.

But Osun PDP chairman, Gani Olaoluwa, who issued a statement in Osogbo just as the party got wind of Oyinlola’s defection, described it as “inglorious.”

According to Olaoluwa, Oyinlola needs fervent prayers as he “begins a political journey with professional liars”.

“We respect the decision of Oyinlola, but we are also expecting him to be man enough to send a congratulatory message to us after the August 9 election. For the PDP in Osun, we are resolute and stand as a family to rescue our people from political vultures and voodoo personalities,” he said.
