It was another opportunity for reggae-dancehall act Patoranking to shine at the finale of MTV ‘On Tour with Shuga’ which took place at the Indoor Sports hall, University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Saturday.

Visibly overwhelmed at the love shown him by students present, Patoranking stripped himself off his Louis Vuitton Jacket and shoes and gave it out to one of the screaming fans.

The lucky winner, Austin Anyansi, a 200 level student of sociology, could not believe his good luck as he kept smiling for the cameras and posing with his latest wardrobe upgrade.

Meanwhile, while it was an opportunity for the students to meet with their favourite music stars; Patoranking, Ice Prince and Reminisce, for fast rising artist, Fola David, it was a chance to exhibit his outstanding talent to the world.

The 500 level student of medicine and surgery in the institution shocked many when in less than five minutes, he painted a portrait of popular reggae-dancehall singer, Patoranking with the aid of his brush and paint.

Perhaps what was even more shocking was that he made the painting upside down, a style believed to be one of the most technical approaches to painting.

Further findings reveal that this is not the first of David’s paintings. He has in recent times painted celebrities including Kunle Afolayan, Emma Nyra, Funke Akindele and a host of others.

The Indoor sports hall of the University of Lagos was packed full with over a thousand students and young adults who had come to watch Ice Prince, Reminisce and Patoranking perform at the finale of the MTV Base ‘On Tour With Shuga’.

The event, anchored by MTV VJ Ehiz also had actors of the award winning series, Emmanuel Ikubese, Sharon Ezeamaka and Timini Egbuson and DJs Humility and Neptune both of who added colour to the night with their mixes.

The four-hour event featured a variety of exciting activities including free HIV testing and counselling, meet and greet sessions with the cast of the series, auditions for a presenter of the MTV Shuga 4 premiere red carpet as well as Q & A sessions on topics around HIV and AIDS.

One of the high points of the evening was the video shoot for ‘Catch Me’, the theme song of ‘Shuga’ season 4. The shoot had Patoranking, Ice Prince and Reminisce perform the song to the excited audience all of who swayed and sang along.
