Founder of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie has visited victims of the collapsed building at Okpanam, Asaba, Delta State.

A section of the building which was housing children collapsed on Tuesday as worshippers gathered to break their fast.

Three persons have been confirmed dead while many others are receiving treatment in hospitals.

In a statement on Wednesday, the church said it is cooperating with the authorities to investigate the cause(s) of the incident.

“Salvation Ministries is aware of the incident that occurred on the 11th of January 2022 at Okpanam, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria, one-storey building which the Church occupies the first floor as tenant with other tenants occupying the ground floor.

“The Church is currently working with relevant authorities in investigating the cause(s) of the incident. Our immediate thoughts and prayers are with the persons and families affected by the incident, and the Church is committed to providing all necessary support, while investigation is ongoing,” the statement read.

Street Journal reports that the collapse might have been caused by the removal of one of the pillars following alleged disagreement between the church and the owner of the building.
