Panic as two aeroplanes collide at Lagos airport

Two aircrafts operated by Middle East Airlines and Turkish Airlines brushed each other on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The affected aeroplanes were subsequently grounded at the airport.

The incident is believed to have occurred when Middle East Airlines Airbus A330-243 plane attempted parking on the apron while Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft was taxiing out.

Passengers on Turkish Airlines flight were made to disembark following the clash.

Regional Manager, South West, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Victoria Shin-Abah said the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
