Panic as high tension cable explodes in Maryland

Explosion from a high tension cable in Maryland area of Lagos on Tuesday evening threw residents into panic.

Fire from the cable line, which is around the Independence Bridge, caused gridlock in the area as passengers, residents and passers-by scampered to safety.

A video of the incident began trending on Wednesday morning.

Commenting on the development, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Margaret Adeseye told PUNCH, “It happened yesterday (Tuesday) but the video started trending this morning (Wednesday). We don’t have a detailed record of the incident.

“The disco has disconnected the power supply to the powerline. No casualty and no injury.”
