Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Olufemi Lanlehin, has stepped down for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluseyi Makinde.

Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Sharafadeen Alli, and that of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bolaji Ayorinde, also left the race to back Mr Makinde.

Former Oyo State Governor and candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Adebayo Alao-Akala, has joined forces with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the election of the APC candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

Directors-general of the campaign organisations of the parties involved in the coalition confirmed the alliance on Monday, saying that details would be provided on Tuesday.

The alliance reduces the main challengers for the Oyo governorship seat to Adelabu and  Makinde.
