Chelsea’s reported inquiry for 36-year-old Peter Crouch has caused an uproar on social media.
The Blues have turned to the 6 ft 7 forward with primary target, Andy Carroll, expected to face a possible lengthy absence after sustaining an ankle injury.
It is thought that the west London club want a loan deal till the end of the season for the striker, who signed a one-year contract extension with Stoke City in November.
The Blues are in a striker crisis with summer signing Alvaro Morata with no goals in his last six games, while Michy Batshuayi appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge with Borussia Dortmund set to land the Belgian.
