Osimhen throws jibe at Ikpeba over bicycle kick

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen says he will not be told what to do by ex-international Victor Ikpeba who criticised his attempts at bicycle kicks during Nigeria’s second leg World Cup playoff against Ghana.

Nigeria failed to qualify for the FIFA 2022 World Cup after playing out a one-all draw against the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, with the visitors qualifying via the away goal rule.

During the game, Osimhen attempted several bicycle kicks but failed to hit the target.

Speaking on Supersport, Ikpeba said about the 23-year-old, “Victor Osimhen is a good player but is not yet a finished article, forget he’s playing for Napoli. Some of those crosses he might have controlled instead of trying to do a bicycle kick.”

He added that though the Napoli striker is young he hopes he can improve and help the national side in the future.

Osimhen replied Ikpeba following the former’s post on Instagram on Wednesday where Super Falcons player Asisat Oshoala stated that he had been told to go slow on bicycle kicks.

“Werey dem say make u no dey do bicycle kick,” Oshoala wrote in Pidgin English.

The former Lille striker responded, “I go continue dey do am, no be that pundit go tell me wetin to do.“
