Suspected thugs have allegedly attacked Seidu Oshiomhole, younger brother of the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

Seidu is a lawmaker-elect representing Etsako West II at Edo State House of Assembly.

A report by Tribune said that Seidu was attacked alongside 14 other members of the assembly.

The lawmakers were said to have been attacked at a hotel in Benin, the state capital, after being absent on Monday when nine members of the assembly were inaugurated.

Some of them were said to have been seriously injured.

The report said a former deputy speaker of the assembly, Victor Edoror, led his colleagues to police headquarters in Benin to report the alleged assault.

Frank Okiye who represents Esan North East 1 was elected as speaker by the nine members who were inaugurated on Monday.

This comes as part of the latest crisis between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and APC national chairman.
