Open grazing: Niger Delta group issues counter-threat to Fulani

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has issued a counter-threat against suspected Fulani jihadists.

A group which identified itself as Fulani Jihadists had written a letter and pasted at strategic points in Asaba, Delta State capital, threatening to attack some areas in the state, including Agbor and the capital if the governor Ifeanyi Okowa does not reverse the open grazing ban.

MEND said in its response that if the threat was carried out, there would be “dragon war”.

“We are warning that if your threat is made to come to fulfilment, no Fulani will ever exist across the Niger Delta and all oil facilities linked to a Fulani will be brought down.

“If one soul is lost, 10 Fulani souls will pay for it. If one facility is destroyed, 10 Fulani facilities will be destroyed. We will respond proportionately 10 times whatever you give, the corresponding response will not be limited to the Delta,” it said in a statement.

However, the leadership of Fulani in the state says it has no hand in the threat to attack the state.
