Onyeama, INEC chairman to meet diplomatic heads, others Wednesday over polls

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, will on Wednesday hold a meeting with heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations on the February 23 elections.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, will be part of the meeting, according to a statement on Tuesday by the ministry’s spokesperson, George Edokpa.

Mr Edokpa added that the briefing would hold at 10 a.m. in the Rotunda Hall, Tafawa Balewa House, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.

INEC had on February 16 announced a shift in dates for the general elections by one week.

Head of the ECOWAS Observer Mission, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, will not be part of the meeting as she has returned to Liberia to be back to Nigeria on Thursday.
