Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, says the state has discharged its index case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mr Akeredolu, who stated this at a media briefing on Monday, said the first case, a military officer, was successfully treated due to high-quality care.

The officer returned from Indian and showed some symptoms during isolation before he was taken in for treatment.

The governor said 22 contacts traced to the first case have tested negative.

Akeredolu also said two other persons undergoing treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital have tested negative while the result of the second test is being awaited.
