Ondo Assembly wants improved welfare for the less-privileged

The Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development has charged the women ministry to intensify efforts to better the lives of the less-privileged in the state.

The Chairman of the Committee, Favour Tomomewo, made this known on Friday when she led the committee on an oversight function to the Ministry.

Tomomewo said that this was the only way to extend the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots and urged the ministry to create programmes that would impact the lives of the people, especially the less-privileged.

She urged the commissioner to interface with nongovernmental organisations and agencies with a view to tapping their resources.

A member of the committee, Samuel Ademola, who advocated for more rights to women pledged the lawmaker’s collaboration towards enhancing a better life for women.

Similarly, Toluwani Borokini, another member, urged the ministry to showcase the activities of the ministry through unbridled publicity and urged the ministry to synergise with the House of Assembly towards impacting positively on the people.

In her response, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Titi Adeyemi, thanked the lawmakers for the visit.

She explained some of the programmes of the ministry targeted at bringing succour to the less- privileged.

The commissioner who pledged an improved rapport with the lawmakers pleaded with them for an improved budgetary provision to enable the ministry to accomplish it goals.
