Ondo 2019: 7 resign from Akeredolu’s cabinet to pursue political ambition

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu

Seven close associates of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, have resigned their offices in a bid to concentrate on the 2019 general elections.

They include four commissioners; Donald Ojogo, bidding for a seat in the House of Representatives to represent the Ilaje/Eseodo federal constituency; commerce and industry, Otunba Timehin Adelegbe, contesting to represent Owo/Ose federal constituency at the House of Reps and Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Omowumi Olatunji, seeking to contest for the Akure South/North federal constituency seat.

Also on the list is the Special Adviser to the governor on Rural and Community Development, Victor Olambitan who will be vying for All Progressives Congress’s senatorial ticket and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Gboyega Adefarati, bidding to represent Akoko Southwest/Southeast federal constituency.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Jibayo Adeyeye, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Austin Pelemo, also resigned to seek the APC’s ticket for Akoko Northeast/Northwest federal constituency and Ondo East/West federal constituency respectively.

Their resignation came after the governor last Friday issued an ultimatum to all political appointees in his government seeking elective positions should resign on or before September 17.

There are also speculations that more of the governor’s cabinets members will be joining the list soon as parties primaries approach.
