Omoni Oboli out to vote as INEC returns polling unit within VGC estate

Actress Omoni Oboli has expressed excitement after her wish was granted and her polling unit in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos was returned to its original location.

The actress had raised alarm on Saturday that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to come into the estate and instead set up their structure for voting outside the estate.

She said VGC residents considered it unsafe to vote outside the estate. Her alarm and that of others forced INEC to postpone voting in the area to Sunday.

INEC resident electoral commissioner Segun Agbaje said NYSC members deployed as ad hoc staff on Saturday were hesitant to enter the VGC estate as they alleged that they were held hostage in the February 25 polls.

However, on Sunday, Omoni shared her excitement in a video she posted on Instagram showing that the polling unit had been returned to its original location within the estate.

She called on residents to come out and vote.

“WE ARE HERE!!! @inecnigeria is here!!! One thing about me is I will fight for truth and justice! We can do the right things for real. Thank you to everyone who helped us yesterday to reach out to appropriate authorities,” she said.
