Omokri criticises David Mark over ADC leadership dispute

Reno Omokri new

Ambassador Reno Omokri has criticised ex-Senate President David Mark over his reported involvement in a leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a post on social media on Tuesday, Ambassador Omokri questioned the situation involving Mr Mark and another party member Nafiu Bala.

He referred to the age difference between both men, noting that Mark turns 78 on April 8, while Bala is 35.

“Why would God bless anyone to get to the age of 78, and you will at that stage of your life be dragging a position with someone who is fifteen years younger than your daughter?” he wrote.

Omokri also pointed to Mark’s political history, stating that he had held public office for several years.

“David Mark got his first political appointment in 1976 which is 50 years ago,” he said.

He added that Bala belongs to a younger generation and entered politics much later.

Omokri said the situation raises concerns about leadership transition within political parties.

“I would have thought that David Mark would be embarrassed to be in a power tussle with a youth who is almost the same age as his first grandchild,” he said.

He also linked the dispute to internal issues within the ADC.

According to him, senior members of the party who are expected to resolve disputes are also involved in the leadership struggle.

“The problem with the ADC is that the elders in that party… are the very people struggling for power,” he said.

He said this has affected the party’s internal structure.

“This has led to the breakdown of the moral fabric of their party, for which they are to blame, not the Federal Government, the Presidency, or the Independent National Electoral Commission,” he added.

The comments follow reports of a leadership dispute within the party involving Mark and Bala.
