Omisore to spend Sallah in EFCC custody

Iyiola Omisore

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, is set to spend the Eid-el-Fitr holidays in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) even as the embattled politician said that the agency has given stringent conditions for his release.

Omisore was arrested by EFCC operatives at his Abuja home on Sunday evening after being declared wanted in connection with a case of receiving and misappropriating over N700million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) between June and November, 2014.

A statement by the politician’s spokesperson, Diran Odeyemi, on Monday noted that “EFCC in a letter handed over to Senator Omisore after several hours of interrogation asked him to produce two serving directors in any of the federal ministries or agencies with landed property in millionaires quarters of Maitama or Asokoro area of Abuja while the sureties must submit the original C of O of the said landed properties.”

According to him, “we know too well of a standing instruction to serving civil servants not to stand as sureties in any matter and wonder why EFCC is giving a condition they have already blocked.”

There are indications that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bigwig will be arraigned in court after the Sallah break over the receipt of N1.3billion by three firms allegedly owned by him from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is also in custody
