Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has expressed happiness at his permanent transfer from Chelsea to La Liga side, Leganes.

The defender returns to the club where he spent a successful season on loan in 2018/19, making 31 appearances.

“Am so happy to be Joining a team that helped me grow so much last season. I can’t wait to start and help this team achieve greatness,” he tweeted on Wednesday.

Omeruo signed for Chelsea in 2012 from Standard Liege but never made it to the first team at Stamford Bridge.

He has spent time on loan in the Netherlands, Turkey, Spain and with English Championship side Middlesbrough.

In spite of that, he says he has nothing but love for the West London club.

Omeruo has played over 50 times for Nigeria, including at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.

He recently helped the Super Eagles to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament he won alongside former Chelsea teammates, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, in 2013.

“We would like to thank Kenneth for his service and wish him all the best for the future,” Chelsea said in a statement on their official website.
