Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has labelled the fire incident which occurred early Friday at Omagba area of Onitsha as a terrorist attack.

Mr Kanu said in a tweet that the explosion was a “coordinated terror attack” from people in the northern region of the country to cripple the economic base of Biafra.

Onitsha is the commercial hub of Anambra State.

“Another day, another fuel tanker explosion in Biafraland. What we are seeing in Omaba is a coordinated terror attack by the Muslim terrorist Alimajiris from Northern Nigeria against the Judeo-Christian people of Biafra, to cripple the economic and human resource base of Biafra,” Kanu wrote.

Eyewitnesses said that the fire began at 3 am on Friday along Onitsha-Enugu expressway opposite Besoy filling station.

Cars and houses are alleged to have been razed.

Reports on social media say that the fire has been put out and that there is no report of human casualties.

The latest incident comes two days after three persons were killed, including a mother and her child, when a fuel tanker fell and went up in flames at MCC Bus stop near Toronto Hospital, Upper-Iweka, Onitsha.
