Oluwo denied access into VIP area at Eagles Square

Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been denied entry to the VIP area of the Eagles Square, venue of the Democracy Day celebration in Abuja on Wednesday.

Security personnel at the Square’s VIP entrance accused the Oluwo of possessing someone else’s invitation card.

The monarch was asked to step aside from the entrance as he protested.

He stood on the red carpet for about 20 minutes before policemen and organisers intervened.

The monarch was later granted entrance and offered a seat on the row where the Ooni of Ife was seated with other invited monarchs.

Also present at the Eagles Square is President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osibajo, the national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Newly-elected Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, are also at the event.

Others are former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and Jim Ovia.

State governors at the event include those of Osun, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kwara, Ekiti, Lagos, Oyo and Anambra.

Former ministers present include Lai Mohammed, Solomon Dalung, Mansur Dan-Ali, and Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita.

Family of the late Moshood Abiola are also at the venue.

Several world leaders are also attending the event including Rwandan President, Paul Kagame.
