Okupe attacks critics of ‘utmost courtesy’ comment, calls them fools

Doyin Okupe

Presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe has referred to as fools his critics on his comment about being treated with ‘utmost courtesy’ while being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Apparently disgusted at the reactions from his praise of the operatives, Mr Okupe made the scathing remark on Twitter in the late hours of Thursday.

Okupe was released on Wednesday after detention since Monday.

“Some Nigerians are politically unifocal. One way traffic only. I say I am proud and grateful officers handled me during my detention& fools are misunderstanding that 4 recapitulation. How pathetic. When people do wrong we criticise them. when they do good we shld praise them,” Okupe wrote.

The former media aide had written on Wednesday: ”The Efcc released me on bail tonite within 48hrs as stipulated by law. I was treated with utmost courtesy. I feel proud & grateful.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC have preferred a 59-count money laundering charge against Okupe.

The anti-graft agency resolved to dock Okupe after he failed to restitute about N120million he allegedly received from the former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki.
