Obi Cubana raises alarm over fake Twitter account offering 10m loan

Socialite Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana has raised an alarm over a fake Twitter account impersonating him and offering to give 10 million as a loan to people.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, May 19, the businessman and popular club owner noted that he was not on Twitter and that scammers have been using his name for fraudulent activities.

The impersonator who opened the account using Cubana’s name asked tweeps if they would be willing to pay 20 million in two years if given a loan of 10 million.

The impersonator wrote: “If I loan you 10m to pay back 20m in 2 years, will you take it?”

Reporting the account, Cubana wrote: “Someone has been using my name on Twitter to do a lot of SCAM!!! I AM NOT ON TWITTER!!!!! I AM NOT ON TWITTER!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT ME!!!! Obi_cubana is NOT ON TWITTER PLS!!!! IT’S A FAKE PAGE!!! IT IS FRAUDULENT!!! PLS HELP ME REPORT THIS TWITTER PAGE!!!! Thank you .”

The Imposter’s account which has 36.5k followers has gotten 21.8k likes, 2,994 retweets and 2,301 replies since the tweet was made.

Several unsuspecting people stormed the comment section of the tweet to beg the imposter claiming to be the socialite for money.

A tweep identified as Empress wrote: “No sir, only if I want to lie to you. Just borrow me 1 million for my business sir, I will make use of it well within 6 months I can pay 1.20milloin back. Then I will pick up from there.

Another tweep Marvelous warned Empress saying, “Cubana is not on Twitter. Be safe in this space.

The account also has several photos and videos of Obi Cubana and has been promoting some of the latter’s products on the platform, luring unsuspecting fans to the fake page.
