Socialite Obi Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana and his friends have completed Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Oba, Anambra State in time for the crossover service on December 31.

The businessman and his friends had promised to complete the building by December following the thanksgiving service held after the burial of his mother Uche Iyiegbu in July.

His mother had attended the church while she was alive.

Posting a throwback video of the day he and his friends decided to carry out the project, the club owner wrote on Instagram on Thursday, December 30, “On July 18th 2021, we made God a promise here in Oba; to have Mama’s sixth month service inside the new church building by December 31st.”

Obi Cubana also shared a video of the completed building, adding that work began on August 15.

“Today, 30th December 2021, to the Glory of God, here we are! Good Shepherd Ang. Church Oba!! Started 15th August 2021!!

“Our reliable engineers made sure the service will hold in this church tomorrow 31st December2021!” he wrote.

The nightlife entrepreneur thanked his friends and family for supporting the project.

“January 2022 we continue….more scholarships, schools, hospitals and roads!!!” he added.

The burial of Obi Cubana’s mother brought him to limelight as he held what was arguably the most lavish funeral in the country.

Obi Cubana literally shut down Oba town as naira and dollar notes poured. Social media was awash with reports that he received over 400 cows from friends for the occasion. His protege and former employee, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, donated 46 cows.

The businessman, who owns nightclubs in Abuja, Lagos among others, had celebrities in attendance at the funeral which turned into a carnival. Musicians who were present include Davido, Patoranking, D’banj and Kcee. Actors Alexx Ekubo and Kanayo O. Kanayo and businessman E-money were also present.
