OAU student: Court rules Ramon Adedoyin should defend self

An Osun State High Court in Osogbo on Wednesday ruled that hotelier Ramon Adedoyin and six of his employees at Hilton Hotel and Resort should defend themselves over the death of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.

The defendants had urged the court to dismiss the matter on a no-case submission.

However, Justice Oyebola Ojo said a prima facie case was established against all the defendants.

“Evidence before the court states that Timothy lodged in the hotel owned by Adedoyin. Adesola who is the 7th defendant, the receptionist received the lodger,” the judge said.

The court also held that wife of the deceased spoke to him while in the facility but he could not be reached afterwards by the wife.

The case was adjourned till April 25, 2022, for the opening of defence.

Adedoyin and the others are accused of illegally tampering with a corpse, tampering with evidence among others.
