OAU student: Court denies Ramon Adedoyin, others bail

Ramon Adedoyin

An Osun State High Court in Osogbo on Monday rejected the bail application of hotelier Ramon Adedoyin and six others over the alleged murder of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.

The defendants – Adedoyin, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola – are facing trial on eleven counts of murder, conspiracy, felony among others.

Adegoke died in Hilton Hotel and Resort owned by Adedoyin last year. His body was allegedly evacuated secretly by the hotel management.

The defendants sought bail on health grounds. However, Justice Adepele Ojo refused their bail applications, stating that their health conditions are not critical.

Upon arraignment last week, counsel to the defendants, Adekunle Adegoke, K. K Eleja and Okon Ita had moved the bail application for seven defendants which was opposed by the prosecutor, M. O. Omosun.
