Nurse, fiancée, father die in Jos-Abuja road accident weeks after engagement

The nursing community in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of two of its members Kareem Oluwagbemiga and his fiancée Usulam Enoch.

The duo lost their lives in an accident on Jos-Abuja road.

Announcing their deaths, Nurses on Air said on Tuesday in a Facebook post that it was a great loss to the nursing community.

“It’s so sad to hear the passing of a dear colleague, Nurse Kareem Oluwagbemiga, admin of @nursingcouncillecture, and his fiancee.

“They both died after being a victim of an accident on Jos-Abuja road. This is a great loss to the nursing community. May the Lord console their family and the whole nursing community,” the post read.

Oluwagbemiga got engaged to Enoch on December 6, 2021, in a ceremony attended by family and friends.

They were both intern nurses at the Federal Medical Centre in Yola, Adamawa before their deaths.

Spokesman of the medical centre Adamu Dodo told BBC Pidgin that Oluwagbemiga’s father also died in the accident.

He said they were travelling because of their upcoming wedding.

Pictures of their engagement have been shared multiple times on social media by mourners.
