New boys, Mountain of Fire FC, continued their dream start to the 2015/16 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) by putting up another assuring performance to beat Rivers United 2-1 at Agege Stadium on Wednesday.

MFM, who defeated Nasarawa United away from home in Matchday 1, maintained a 100 percent record with a victory over Rivers who were too strong for defending champions, Enyimba, last week.

Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Sikiru Olatunbosun scored for the Prayer Warriors before Frederick Obomate reduced the deficit for the Port Harcourt-based side.

The victory takes the church club to top of the NPFL standings with six points and a superior goal difference to second-placed Lobi Stars, who defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1.

Anthony Okpotu scored a brace in the 36th and 70th minute, while Sunshine got their lone goal in the 68th minute through Emmanuel Sunday.

Two goals from Chisom Chikatara and Olaha ensured that Abia Warriors secured three points at home, though Mustapha Ibrahim pulled one back for El Kanemi.

Despite taking the lead in the 8th minute through Kim John, Plateau United were subdued by Rangers International at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Flying Antelopes scored three goals against their visitors through Togaba Komlan (54th minute), Nnamdi Anyasodo (66th minute) and the dying minutes goal from Chisom Egbuchulam.

Niger Tornadoes and Giwa FC shared the spoils in an encounter that ended 1-1 at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, while Warri Wolves were lucky to score their winner in the added time of the second half through Kelvin Itoya as they ran away with a 1-0 victory over their visiting foes, Kano Pillars.

Heartland FC of Owerri held Wikki to a barren draw at the home soil of the Tourists.

Meanwhile, three games involving Akwa United, Enyimba and Nasarawa United were called off due to their engagement in CAF club competitions.

This allows the likes of FC Ifeanyiubah, Shooting Stars and Ikorodu United to recharge their batteries and further plan ahead of their next games in the coming match day.
