NOSC vice-chairman Mahmood Ali-Balogun writes Oscars as Chineze Anyaene-Abonyi seeks clarification on extension

The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) vice-chairman Mahmood Ali-Balogun has written to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over an extension to submit a film for the 2023 Oscars.

A letter by the Academy addressed to the NOSC chairperson Chineze Anyaene-Abonyi and Ali-Balogun seen by granted the one-week extension which expires on October 21.

However, in another letter addressed to the executive committee, the NOSC, led by the chairperson, said it would need clarification whether or not it is necessary that countries must submit a film every year. also learnt that Ali-Balogun has written to the Academy regarding Anyaene-Abonyi’s possible refusal to call for a meeting following the granted extension.

According to a close source, the letter was written to seek the next line of action if Anyaene-Abonyi refuses to call for a meeting.
