No DNA test, no burial — Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba

Mohbad's father

Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba alias Mohbad, has insisted that his son will not be buried until a DNA test is conducted on Mohbad’s son, Liam.

In a video shared on Tuesday, Mr Aloba said: “The DNA test is the most important thing. Once it is done, Mohbad will be buried.”
He added: “Mohbad will be buried immediately after the DNA test is done.”

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day, a move that triggered nationwide outrage. His body was later exhumed for autopsy following demands for a thorough investigation into his death. Over two years later, his remains still lie in government custody.

The renewed DNA controversy stems from persistent paternity rumours. Mr Aloba has repeatedly insisted that the test must be conducted in his presence or through a representative to ensure transparency. He maintains he is the only one with the authority to approve the burial and insists the DNA result is needed for “closure.”
