Mr Kanu announced the death of his mother on Sunday on Twitter through his press secretary, Amaka Ekwo.

Mrs Kanu died on August 30 in Germany after a protracted illness.

The IPOB leader linked the Federal Government to the death, citing alleged soldiers’ invasion of his Umuahia, Abia State residence in September 2017.

“Watching her children being hunted and killed by the federal government was the cause of her illness, and today we have lost her,” he said.

Kanu, however, vowed not to be deterred in his fight for the actualisation of Biafra.

Since the news broke, Kanu has been receiving condolence messages from friends and well-wishers.

Among them is the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, a vocal supporter of Kanu.
