Nollywood actress, Nkiru Umeh, has accused the officials of the Lagos State Government of profiting from the Abule-Ado pipeline explosion by selling broken blocks and rods from the destroyed buildings.

The Who Won the Battle star who lost her home and shopping complex in the explosion, made the accusation on Instagram on Wednesday.

She also claimed that the officials demand bribes from the traumatised victims, who have still not been compensated for their loss, for a chance to sell the blocks and rods themselves.

“After loosing over N200m worth of properties and goods. No compensation from the government. Yet they are heartless enough to be traumatizing the already traumatized residents by showing up to demolish the remains of their buildings and refuse to leave the broken blocks and rods from their own buildings built with their hard work.

“Imagine negotiating with a government official on how much to pay for you to leave the remains of blocks and rods from your own building. They demolish and sell it all. That’s the business that has been going on in Abule Ado Festac…,” she alleged.

On June 21, Nkiru revealed how her son escaped death in the March 15 explosion.

She said her son would have suffered the same fate as her neighbours, who lost their lives in the explosion if she hadn’t stopped him from attending the first mass of the day as he had planned to.
