Nigerian model, Makida Moka, getting married to man she met after boyfriend declined trip to Olumo Rock

Winner of the 2009 Face of Sleek Nigeria competition, Makida Moka, is getting married to her Canada-based lover, Oliver Onyekweli, whom she met on a trip to Olumo Rock.

An introduction ceremony was held between the families of the 25-year-old and her beau on Sunday, November 26.

“He came to officially ask my family because first of all INTRODUCTION,” she wrote alongside a picture of both of them on Instagram on Thursday.

She had earlier narrated how they met after her former boyfriend refused to go on a trip to Olumo Rock with her.

“I had a boyfriend. I wanted to go on a day trip to Olumo Rock, he didn’t want to go and then none of my other friends wanted to go. I didn’t know anyone else going, but I went anyway, by myself and met the love of my life on that day trip,” she wrote on Twitter on November 23.

She said in a 2016 interview with PUNCH that she would love her marry a man with a good sense of humour “because it’s always good to be able to laugh and talk about things”.

Other desired attributes include: “He has to be emotionally mature and intelligent; he needs to understand the things of God. He needs to have a vision of where he wants to be as a person and be working towards that. I’d like to get married and have children.”

Born in Cairo, Egypt to “a Nigerian woman and a man of Caribbean descent with Nigerian family”, Makida Moka combines modelling with acting.

She has featured in Gidi Up, Taste of Love, Banana Island Ghost and Code of Silence, which was screened at the Goteborg International Film Festival, Sweden.
