Nigerian listed as victim of Brussels attacks is former Lagos deputy governor’s brother

Moyo Adeoba, the Nigerian listed among the “reported fatalities or people missing” in last Tuesday’s terror attacks in Brussels, is half brother of former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, Qed.ng has learnt.

The revelation was made to this online newspaper by founder of the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), Hafsat Abiola-Costello, on Monday.

Mrs. Abiola-Costello launched a Facebook campaign on Sunday to track Adeoba’s family after his name appeared on the list of victims of bomb attacks in the Belgian capital.

On Monday, she posted an update on Facebook saying: “Friends, thank you for sharing my message until it reached Mr. Moyo Adeoba’s family. I just got a call from his sister. He was not a student as I had surmised from his FB profile. According to his sister, he was approximately 62 years old. The family has not heard from him since the attack but are hoping that perhaps he is among the injured.”

In a message sent to Qed.ng, Abiola-Costello, who is currently in Brussels with her family, said: “I talked to his half sister, Mrs. Sinatu Ojikutu, and she hasn’t heard from him but some on Facebook are saying they have touched base with him.”

She later wrote on Facebook: “It seems Mr. Moyo Adeoba is alive and well! Some of his family have spoken to him and I notice that his name is not on the updated list of victims online. I am trying to touch base with him directly. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and keep him in our prayers.”

Ojikutu, 70, was deputy governor between 1991 and 1993 during General Ibrahim Babangida faux transition programme.

Her mother, Alhaja Mutiat Gbemisola Adeoba, died on January 22, 2012 aged 97.
