Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has revealed the reason for her sudden weight gain, stating that she has always been skinny but Nigerian food humbled her.

The 39-year-old in an Instagram post on Thursday, said that Nigerian food had made her gain a lot of weight despite the little portions of food she consumes.

“I’ll like to plead with you all to try staying healthy! I had always been skinny. My weight gain during pregnancy were always in the stomach but Nigerian food will humble you. I swore weight gain wasn’t in me! I eat in small portions but then the weight gains started. Genetically, I have a huge tendency of being on the heavy side,” she said.

The actress also said that she was depressed after bloggers reported that she was pregnant due to her weight gain.

“I was wearing Uk18 at some point! I was like what. Depression sunk in! Blogs carried I was pregnant. From US 2 when I arrived damn near 10 years ago. It isn’t easy I’ve gotta admit but it is worth it. Make that change for yourself! You can only achieve your goals while alive and fit,” she wrote.

Adunni relocated to Nigeria in November 2013 and made her acting debut in 2013 with the movie Iwo Tabi Emi by Saidi Balogun.

She has two sons D’Marion and Ayden. She revealed that after she made a difficult choice to break up with their father, she would continue being a single parent.
