Nigerian-born striker, Carlton Cole, declared bankrupt

Former England international, Carlton Cole, has been declared bankrupt according to the British press.

Cole, 34, is born to a Nigerian but opted to represent the Three Lions at the national team level.

With seven appearances, he holds the record for the most appearances as a substitute without ever starting a match.

The 34-year-old striker, who played for Premier League clubs Chelsea and West Ham, was given the verdict at London’s High Court.

The case was brought by financial advice firm Quantuma.

Cole once earned around £30,000 a week at the peak of his career.

He scored 51 goals in 289 top-flight games.

Cole is now launching his ‘CCTwelve Football Academy’ in East London.

It offers kids between the age of seven and 14 the chance to “play against professional academies”.

He hasn’t played for any club since leaving Indonesian side, Persib Bandung in 2017.
