Nigeria retains 42nd position on FIFA ranking

Nigeria’s senior national team maintained its 42nd position in the latest Fifa world ranking released on Thursday.

The African champions were adjudged the same rank in the world according to the ranking released earlier in October.

The Eagles are now the ninth-ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Guinea and Senegal despite missing out of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Equatorial Guinea.

Meanwhile Algeria remains at the summit of African football with 948 points which put it in the 18th position in the world while Tunisia is second in Africa and ranked 22th in the world.

Cote d’Ivoire stays third on the continent after amassing 842 points which places it in the 24th spot in the world.

Germany, Argentina and Colombia hold the first, second and third spots in the world respectively as Fifa World Cup hosts Brazil retained its sixth spot in the world.
