Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, led members of the Assembly on a visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at Government House, Benin City on Tuesday.

Ativie, representing Uhunmwode Constituency, was sworn in as Speaker amid heavy security on Monday.

She becomes the first female Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Her emergence followed the impeachment of Victor Edoror, as Speaker on Tuesday last week.

Ativie was sworn in by the Clerk of the House, Lawson Ugiagbe, in the presence of other members of the Assembly, including Edoror, whose suspension from the House was lifted.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Dr. Justin Okonoboh, and others accompanied the new Speaker on the visit to Oshiomhole.
