All you need to know about sexual orientation

The term sexual orientation refers to the gender to which a person is attracted to.

Contrary to popular belief, heterosexuality and homosexuality are not the only types of sexual orientations that exist.

There are at least 10 types and you are feel free to choose which category you fall under.

1. Homosexual
Homosexuality is when an individual is only attracted to people of the same sex. When boys like boys, it is termed as gay and when girls like girls, it is termed as lesbianism.

2. Demisexual
This refers to people who are unable to feel a sexual connection with someone until they feel a romantic connection with them. What this means is that certain individuals need to be romantically invested before they allow themselves to be sexually involved with another person.

3. Heterosexual
Also known as being straight, a heterosexual is a person who is only attracted to the opposite sex. It is the most accepted form of sexual orientation.

4. Bisexual
A bisexual is an individual who is sexually attracted to both men and women. They do not meet the label of being called gay or straight because they are in-between.

5. Pansexual
This refers to a person who is attracted to any sexual orientation or gender identity. This type of person does not have a problem being linked with a lesbian, gay, straight or even a transgender.

6. Demiromantic
A demiromantic is a lot like a demisexual, they do not experience romantic attraction unless they have already formed a strong emotional bond with the person.

7. Asexual
This refers to people who don’t feel any type of sexual attraction at all. Even though there are still capable of having a healthy relationship, they are not sexually attracted to any gender.

8. Autosexual
An autosexual is someone who prefers to have sex with themselves over having sex with others. Basically, these people are masturbation addicts.

9. Aromantic
This refers to people who don’t feel any type of romantic attraction at all. However, they can still feel sexual attraction.

10. Omnisexual
This refers to someone who feels an equal amount of attraction towards everyone. They don’t actually prefer one gender over another.
