Ndubuisi Kanu’s daughter pens tributes to him on first death anniversary

Audrey Joe-Ezigbo, daughter of the late ex-military governor of Lagos State, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, has paid tributes to her father on his first death anniversary.

Kanu lost his life on January 13, 2021, to COVID-19.

Joe-Ezigbo, who is the deputy managing director of Falcon Corporation Limited, in a note wrote: “Unbelievably, it’s been a year already since you passed on. And what a year! No one prepares you for the loss of a parent no matter how many people you know who have lost theirs.

“But it is well. We find strength and fortitude in God and we move on regardless. You would be proud, of how your children came together and of how we continue to stand strong…

“Indeed, today, my siblings and I have agreed it is not a day of mourning. It’s a day of celebrating the enigma that you were, a man who was great, albeit not perfect.”

Joe-Ezigbo had tested positive for COVID-19 on January 12.

Addressing it in her note, she said, “What a joke! The enemy thought to try the family again? I laugh in Igbo. A few people have said to me, ‘don’t be scared.’ I’m not scared dad because I trust God. He is the one who numbers our days. How we ultimately leave this earth is not promised to us and so truly does not matter.”
