Nasarawa Police Command has confirmed the killing of an official of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lafia, Dennis Onoja.

Spokesman of the command, Usman Samaila, said on Thursday that the incident occurred early Wednesday at the deceased’s residence in Tudun-Kauri, Lafia metropolis.

Mr Samaila said it was raining at the time of the incident while the victim’s power generating set was on, making it impossible for neighbours to know what was happening.

One of the neighbours had gone to charge the battery of his mobile phone in the victim’s apartment when he saw his lifeless body in his room.

The neighbour knocked on the door repeatedly without any response, the spokesman said.

“The neighbour decided to peep through the window and saw the victim in the pool of his blood,” Samaila said, adding that the NDLEA official had machete cuts on his body and signs of struggle in his apartment.

He said the police and NDLEA had begun investigation on the incident.

Samaila said the victim’s remains have been kept at the morgue of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
