The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) says it will prosecute any lawyer involved in the vandalisation of conference booths, theft of phones, and assault on officials.

NBA president Olumide Akpata stated this on Thursday at the ongoing annual general conference in Lagos.

Some lawyers destroyed conference booths and looted materials on Tuesday night due to the delay in collecting their materials, especially bags.

The technical committee of conference planning (TCCP) said in reaction to the development that the bags would be collected later because they were turned back to the suppliers for being below standard.

The NBA stepped in and announced a new registration centre. However, on Thursday, some lawyers disrupted business at BWC Hotel opposite Eko Atlantic, venue of the conference, due to the delay in registration.

Speaking on the incidents that have overshadowed the conference, Akpata said the NBA would not fail to prosecute those complicit.

“No one said we will not encounter difficulties in life but the hallmark is ‘how quickly do we resolve such difficulties?’ Gentlemen of the Bar, I thank you so much. It can only get better,” he said.
