Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita, has been ruled out of the season with an abductor injury, manager, Jurgen Klopp, has confirmed.
Speaking with the media on Friday, Jurgen said: “It was really unlucky. Bad news. He has a high-grade Adductor injury. The tendon is ruptured, which keeps him out for at least two months.
“Bad news for us obviously, but bad news for Guinea as well because the Africa Cup of Nations is coming up.
“He was in a really good moment – a really, really good moment – but it happened. That’s how football and life sometimes are. It’s not too nice, but it’s very serious.”
He suffered the injury in his club’s Wednesday semi-final clash against Barcelona, with the injury forcing him off less than 40 minutes into the match.
Keita will now struggle to be fit for the start of the Africa Cup of Nations where he is expected to be the talisman for national team, Guinea.
Naby Keita scored Liverpool’s fastest Premier League goal in last Friday night’s game against Huddersfield.
The Guinean midfielder lashed on to a poor Huddersfield pass and exchanged a one-two with Mohamed Salah before hitting the back of the net 15 seconds into the game.
