Murtala Muhammed

Risqua Muhammed, son of the former Nigerian Head of State, late General Murtala Muhammed, says his father left only N7,000 in his bank account.

Muhammed revealed this on Monday during the unveiling of his late father’s statue at the post-graduate hall of residence at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun State.

Muhammed lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his fight against corruption, adding that his father stood for same.

He, however, urged Nigerians to support the crusade against corruption.

Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, commended the family of the late icon for maintaining the legacies of their father.

He said the late Muhammed was a leader to celebrate because he did not acquire wealth when he was alive.

Program coordinator of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, Solomon Okonkwo, expressed gratitude to the OAU Post Graduate students for remembering the former Head of State.
