MTN Rewards Content Creators at Digital Content Conference 2018 2

MTN Nigeria hosted content creators on November 5 and 6 to a digital conference and awards ceremony.

During the two day event, which held in Lagos, upstart and aspiring content creators had the opportunity to interact with some of Nigerian best content creators like filmmakers Kunle Afolayan and Tope Alake. Also present at the conference was the animator Erem Emeka of House of Ajebo.

The first day of the conference saw different content creators engage in master class sessions in areas as diverse as filmmaking, animation and podcast content creation. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of MTN Shortz as a home for content creators to showcase their creative works.

During the second day of the conference, content creators were rewarded for the hard work and ingenuity they displayed through the presentation of awards and cash prizes. Many awardees went home with big smiles on their faces, as they bore the fruit of their imaginative thinking.

The content creator that caught the eye during the award was 3Sixtyworld Creative, a budding content creation TV that won three awards: for Best Local Channel which attracted a N3.5 million cash prize, a N2.2 million Best Local Content Award as well as recognition as the Most Trending Channel on Social Media which came with a N1.150 million cash award.

Speaking at the award ceremony, general manager, value-added services (VAS), Aisha Mumuni, explained that MTN Shortz was launched in July 2017 to allow content creators upload their short-form video content of not more than five to fifteen minutes long.

“MTN Nigeria realised overtime that content creators were not getting the reward they deserve for the amazing content they create and are willing to give them a platform where they can thrive,” she said.

Other awards include the best engager and the most responsive content provider which were both won by the Aerial View agency, which carted home N3.5 million. Customers were also rewarded as the most watched subscriber and the most engaged customer on social media were presented with the cash sums of N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.

The event had celebrities like pop stars, Harrysong, Johnny Drille, Immaculate and Sound Sultan, in attendance.
